"My Documents" folder resetting to factory default

I have a very unusual problem. My "My Documents" folder resets to the default
setup from when I first installed Windows XP. What I mean by this, is that
the Music and Pictures folders automatically delete everything in there, and
add the shortcuts to the shared pictures and music that I removed. Documents
in the "My Documents" folder itself are untouched, and custom folders in
there are also untouched, but any other folder created by Windows (or my
Freelancer saved games) deletes themselves and are recreated.

It has happened 4 times in the last year, and I have had several fresh
format installs over that timeframe. I was offline in all circumstances, and
did not have viruses/spyware when it occured. My problem isn't the loss of
documents, as the first time it happened gave me a scare and I now keep
regular backups. I just want to get this annoyance fixed. Has anyone heard of
this happening before, or is my machine a "freak"?

Note: I do not use P2P programs, download files (except for driver updates
etc), am running XP Pro SP2 and it happened last night for the 4th time. I
only have a few applications installed, MS Office 2003, Dr Divx (latest
version for SP2) and Trend Micro Internet Security. I do not believe it is
caused by "bad programs" that I install, as I have none. The only problem on
my computer other than this is that my graphics card and motherboard conflict
when 8x AGP is enabled in the BIOS. It is currently disabled, which I do not
think would be related.

No, that's not it. All my favourites stay the same etc, it is just subfolders
inside the "My Documents" folder that reset. My "Documents and settings"
folder has nothing unusual.
