My Documents Folder Problem

Fred

This fix still did not correct the problem!!
If I move My Documents to a new location, then move them
back would that work, and what would be the appropriate
steps to ensure success. Are there pitfalls to this.
Still Need Help
Thanks
Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/Reset All Folders.

Then go to Start/Run and type: regsvr32 /i shell32

Repair/Customize Quick Launch, Taskbar and Notification Area
I upgraded from ME to XP 8 months ago. Prior, I set "My
Documents" back-ground to "Diagonal Sand". Under XP I
would like to remove the back-ground.
I tried removing desktop.ini, this had no effect. What
else can I try.

Thanks

Shame on you for starting a new thread!!! :)

As David said in reply to your previous post, If you're still seeing a background, it's coming from
desktop.ini.

Try the following:

1. Make sure the Explorer option to hide extensions is turned OFF, or you'll end up with
'desktop.ini.txt'

2. Open notepad to create a new text file.

3. Copy the following text into the file, substituting your name for 'Owner' (text courtesy of
http://computers.douglasthrift.net/winxpfaq/#faq3_my_documents)

[DeleteOnCopy]
Owner=Douglas Thrift
Personalized=5
PersonalizedName=My Documents

4. Save it to the 'My Documents' folder with the name 'desktop.ini'. Say 'yes' when asked if you
wish to replace the existing file.
