After downloading and installing service pack 2, My desktop now LOOKS
different. The toolbar for instance has reverted to Windows Classic Style as
opposed to the 'soft' blue feel impression of the XP toolbar, the graphical
representation of the Windows themselves has lost that nice XP 3d feel aswel.
This is despite the fact that in ALL cases, the themes, styles and everything
I can think of is set to XP styling - nothing seems to shake off the old
fashioned look to my XP home Service Pack 2 updated PC ------ Ideas then?
Thank you! x x

Hi Julie,

Type Services.msc in Start/Run:
Double-click Themes and stop the service
Restart Themes service again

If that does not help, open Control Panel, click Performance And
Maintenance. In the Performance And Maintenance window, click System, and
then click the Advanced tab.

In the Advanced tab, in the Performance box, click Settings to display the
Performance Options dialog box. There are two tabs on the Performance
Options dialog box: the Visual Effects tab and the Advanced tab.

In the Visual Effects tab, choose the option "Let Windows Choose What's Best
For My Computer"
