My default zoom set in WORD XP is 200%. How do I get it back to 10

Starting WORD XP opens default document1 with a zoom factor set to 200%.
I would like to start up with 100%.
Opening normal.dot, switching zoom factor and saving does not change anything.

The trick is that you have to make some editing change in normal.dot
to make Word think it needs to be saved -- for instance, type a space
and then delete it. See step 4 of
