Clicking on MY COMPUTER takes minutes before all the files are displayed. This is particularly after restarting the computer. Once the files are displayed there doesn't appear to be a problem, but the first time after restarting is extremely slow. The system displays a torchlight as it searches for all the files
Is there a setting that can change this in XP Home?

How much RAM do you have??

Many thanks Kelly. The registry edit you suggested worked fine. I am now zipping around, moving files nice and swiftly
I appreciate the fact that you take the time to scan this forum. Getting help from Microsoft is nigh impossible
I will now spend some more time reviewing your site to see if I can improve my computing experience further
Cheers for now

Gerar

And Ross, if you are reading this, my computer has 512mb of memory. Thanks for your input.

I've just recently started having the same slow behaviour.
I can't figure out what is causing this. If you find out
what is causing this then please post a solution.

Is this a standalone PC?
Do you have references to mapped drives that no longer exist?
