Every time I try to check my C drive it bombs out with a Windows Explorer
error message then if I debug I get a Dr. Watson error message. If I run
chkdsk c:/f/r through command prompt it goes right throught when it restarts
with no problems, but as soon as I try through my computer or explorer I get
the above problem - any ideas please?

Giving exactly what the error message says may be helpful here.

The vproshellext.dll is a file connected with Norton Ghost. Perhaps you
have some Ghost process running in the background (automatic backup or
something like that) and it is failing when you run Chkdsk. Disable the
resident process and/or see Symantec tech support for help with their
products.

Test with a diagnostic utility from the hard drive mftr. Download the
file and make a bootable floppy or cd with it. Boot with the media and
do a thorough test. If the drive has physical errors, replace it.

If the drive tests OK physically but shows file system errors, then try
Chkdsk /f /r again. If Chkdsk can't fix your file system errors, back
up your data and try a Repair Install. If the Repair Install doesn't
work and you are sure the hard drive is healthy, do a Clean Install.

You're not reading my posts thoroughly. The OEM was Tiny but it did not
make the *hard* *drive*. You need to get a diagnostic utility from the
*hard* *drive* mftr. If you can't figure out what hard drive is in your
system, then use Seagate's SeaTools which will test non-Seagate drives.
If this is difficult for you - and there is no shame in admitting that
tinkering with hardware isn't your cup of tea - take your computer to a
local professional repair shop.

Otherwise run the test and if the drive tests fine do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work, do a Clean Install.
