My computer or Control Panel won't open

HELP!
when I open my computer or control panel it briefly lists files and then
shuts down and takes me back to my desk top. so as you can guess I can't
copy files from one disk to other or do any cleanup etc. I have been using
XP professional for close to a year now and have kept it updated. I tried
changing DEP settings but does not seem to help. I also have Norton
anitvirus, Norton Internet secuirty and spyware program running at all times.
any ideas what went wrong?

Why would you depend on Norton alone? While thinking about that answer, run
this combo now and good luck!

See if software running in the background (including Norton etc.) does
cause this: "How to Perform Advanced Clean-Boot Troubleshooting in
