Ever since the Blaster Worm hit my computer a couple of
weeks ago, my computer hasn't been the same. It is
really messed up. when I put it on standby, it
completely starts over. when I bring it out of stand by,
it completely starts over. It even goes offline on its
own. I even had trouble getting my email when I finally
got my computer back from the worm. I wonder if I might
still have some of the worm on my computer?

Should I just reformat my computer? I feel this is
really the only way to completely get rid of the worm and
the damage it has done. And if so, how do I do it safely?

Thanks.

Note: don't ever include your real email address in a Usenet posting or
on a messageboard - it will get harvested by spambots and you will get
lots of spam. As for your problem, reformatting seems a little over the
top to me, but hey, if that's what you want to do, just stick your XP
cd in the drive, reboot the computer, hit "Enter" to boot from the cd
and follow instructions. Formatting the drive will erase *everything*,
so be prepared to reinstall drivers, programs, updates, and restore
data from backups. Why are you wondering if you still are infected?
Don't you have a current antivirus program (using updated definitions)
running?

Hey Kay,

Not knowing what you have done in the past to correct
this problem, you may want to go to SETUP and DELOYMENT,
open e-mail Subject: MSLAUGH.EXE by W Hughes, Dec 22, 2003
at 1:06AM and read Michael Stevens answer Dec 2003,
3:35AM on the Blaster Worm. He provides a step by step
procedure to remove this worm.

F Miller Good luck, Kay.

IT may also be worth Checking for the Welcia worm. seems to cause more
issues than the blaster. I'd say in the 10 machine I look at a day they have
either blaster or welcia even if only in teh restore folder
