Too many programs running at start-up. A virus. A heavily fragmented hard drive. Spyware/Adware/Worms/Parasites/Malware/Trojans/Rootkits etc. An old, slow computer. Heat - a hot CPU runs slower. Hardware problems, such as hard drive read errors. HJS
