my computer doesn't see my d2 300G Lacie hard drive

Hi,
I have formatted my hard drive so that there are about 5 32GB FAT32
paritions and the rest (around 100 GB) as NTFS, in order to be able to
work with both PC and Mac.
Now my computer doesn't even see my hard drive, let alone recognize it.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Noa

Which computer PC or Mac?
What OS you have on PC? (assume XP)
What do you see when you run diskmgmt.msc on your PC?

You`ve partitioned, but have you Formatted ?.

The PC, it has Windows XP OS on it and when I run diskmgmt.msc I don't
see the hard drive at all, I just see the rest of my storage devices
(CDs and internal hard drives).

I partitioned and then for a notice that the hard drive is being
formatted. I didn't format it manually.

How do you connect Lacie D2 300GB disk to your PC?
Did you try to boot up PC with LACIE connected and powered on?

The Lacie D2 hard drive is connected either via USB or Firewire. Using
either connection the computer still doesn't see the hard drive.
Yes, I tried rebooting with the hard drive connected and disconnected.

Check in Device Manager for USB problems.

What exactly did you not understand in :
"I have formatted my hard drive so that there are about 5 32GB FAT32 partitions ....."

Do you even know what details are from partitioning and which ones from formatting.

There are no USB problems.

So what happens when you:
- have PC powered on, Lacie disconnected and powered off
- connect Lacie with USB cable
- power on Lacie
Anything happens on PC screen?

Same thing happens when connecting the drive to other USB ports (other
FireWire ports)?

There are no USB problems.

When you plugin a USB device (and power on in your case),
you should see a icon (with a green arrow) on the system tray.

If that doesn't happen, there would be a USB problem.
You need need to call tech support from the manufacturer.

Before you do that, try to ask a friend with hardware knowledge
to take a look.

Good luck.

Does the drive spin up? If not, check the power box first (usually 12-15V).
If that's OK, remove the drive and test it with diagnostics on IDE port.
