Ok, I've always had the experience that My Computer displays all items
present in a group-style list: shared stuff first, then local drives
(floppy, hdd, then cdrom), then other things like Control Panel and Printers
and such... recently I noticed that I lost this group-style listing, and now
everything is all jumbled together. Ordering by name doesn't really order
by name... for example, the two entries called "Local Disk (C:)" and "Local
Disk (F:)" aren't next to each other, but separated by "CD-ROM (D:)", which
leads me to believe that organizing by Name is actually organizing by drive
letter, or something to that effect.

What the heck happened that would change this display? It's the only folder
that I've noticed has changed, but then again it's the only folder that did
that kinda thing AFAIK. Is this a common enough occurrence that maybe
Kelly's website has something that can fix me up?

Aye, I've tried that, but the groups it uses are alphabetical... so for
example I'll have " A | Floppy Drive (A:) / C | Local Disk (C:) / D | CD-ROM
(D:)" etc. I'm looking to return the display to the way it used to be -
doing this keeps the same organization structure but just doubles the length
of the display due to the lines denoting which letter identifies the entries
below.

Woops, I remembered incorrectly. Checking the "Show in
Groups" option does properly alphabetize the entries, and
thus it looks more like this: "C | CD Drive (D:) / L |
Local Disk (C:) | Local Disk (F:)" etc. This still is
not how it used to be, and not how I wish it to end up.

In Tony Talmage <[email protected]> hunted and pecked:

Are there any new developments for this issue? I've still been unable to
solve this problem.

Tony,

From one of your other posts:
[[This still is not how it used to be, and not how I wish it to end up.]]

I have no idea how that was. ;-(

From my OP:

I would very much like to return to this layout instead of what I currently
am seeing (details in another post). I've no idea what changed to cause My
Computer to change, so unfortunately I cannot simply undo whatever I did.

Nevermind - I'm just stupid. =) I turned "Show in Groups" back on like you
had suggested, and then played around with the options... the reason it was
showing the way it was (i.e. "L | Local Disk (C:)" etc.) is because I still
freaking had it organizing by name. Organizing by Type changed it back to
the display I was looking for.... so you were right, and I was just way
wrong. Sorry about that, Wes.

Thanks for your work Tony.

I just had the same problem, no idea how it happened, or how to fix it.
