My changes in Access won't save.

I can go into design view and make changes. When I try to close the form, a
pop up asking if I want to save changes comes up. I click yes and the box
goes away, but the form doesn't close. If I click no, the form closes but
the changes do not save. I am a fairly new user of Access, so any help would
be appreciated.

kking,

MAKE A BACK-UP, then I would try running Compact & Repair. Uncheck Track
AutoName... if checked, if that doesn't work create a new database and
import all objects into it. If none if the prior suggestions work when
posting back please state Access cersion and if there are any updates
installed.

That's definitely unusual. I'd try importing all the objects into a
new, clean database and see if that solves the problem.

Compact and repair only repairs table and index corruptions. It
doesn't do anything mich for other objects. Either an import into a
new MDB/ACCDB or the SaveAsText should be done.

Tony,

While I agree with what you said... I have a similar experience as the OP
and found Compact & Repair *fixed* whatever was wrong. Not sure why but it
works so my theory is, can't hurt to try!

While what you say is generally true, it does clean out data pages
of discarded compiled code, which could conceivably clean up some
types of problems that would exhibit the behavior described.

But only with a decompile would you get any signficant benefit from
a compact if your problem is with a form.

It's also easy to do and if it doesn't solve the problem *then* you
can do the more complex fix. I replied to Tony myself taking issue,
just like you did, and suggesting a reason why a compact could help.

Is your MDB file allright? There is a tool called Advanced Access
Repair. I have used it to repair many corrupt Access MDB files on my
damaged disks successfully. Its homepage is http://www.datanumen.com/aar/

1) You are an employee of such a company

2) You should be disclosing that fact more openly.
