My CD drive has VANISHED!!

Help, my cd drive no longer appears on 'My Computer',

When I try and use a cd, it says 'disc not in drive' or disc not found.

What has happened? Any advice most appreciated.
 
Hi,

Have you checked in device manager to see if the drive is listed there?
