my 25 digit number

I have Win 2000 on my 4 year old laptop. (this is my new
one) I have reformatted my HD up to a point. When I am
attempting to enter my 25 digit original reg number, i am
being informed that this is not the correct number. I
cannot understand this as it is the number that came with
the disc. It is authentic and is the only number I have.
I just dont know what to do next. Can anyone please
advise me via email?

I would really appreciate it. I am in the UK

Assuming this is the ID number on Orange sticker with the 'do not lose this'
warning then ensure you hav'nt missread O as 0, B as 8 etc
