I'm not an MVP, but this is the Microsoft Connection Manager Monitor. Some
ISPs provide it with their Internet dialler. If it's running in the
background your performance may improve if you end it - see if affects your
Internet connection.

Oooh, thanks, this is precisely the reason I asked, I was wondering if I
could disable it for this very reason., which leads into another tale too
long to tell, heh, heh. Disabling does not affect my connection thus far in
my - uhm, "experimenting".

Does it show up in the task manager if it's running?
