I have posted this before and been told to download pop up
stoppers and this is not a solution to the problem.

A Grey menu full of shortcuts appears on my desktop
throughout the day as I work. The shortcuts in the menu
are to various microsoft office documents as well as pics
and sound clips. It is usually occurs with an accompanying
engagement of the hard drive. The only way to make it go
away is to open one of the documents in the list.

I am running Norten Internet Security 2004 which should
block adware and spy ware so this is definitely not a pop
up ad problem.

How do I configure an ad blocker to stop a file menu? I am
not getting an ads, just a menu full of shortcuts to my
documents. Does anybdy know how to stop this???

Check your system for "hijackware".

HijackThis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) is the
preferred tool to use, helping to both identify and remove these bad guys.
**Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.
