Music skipping in Media player 9

I usually have no problem playing CDs in my player on my PC, but suddenly a
new CD is sounding choppy, although it plays ok on a portable player. It's
just one CD so far...another new one played right after is fine on the PC.
Should I return the CD for another one?

Ok, now another CD that I had already is skipping too...guess it's the player.
