Music CD(with PPT) play in the stand-alone player and CD rom

Jae

I created a CD with PPT file(+ viewer) as well as music
tracks.
I intended to have the songs played in both the stand-
alone player and CD rom. However the songs don't play back
in the stand-alone player.(It does in the CD rom)

In the Package for CD, I tried to select both "Don't play
the CD automatically" and "Play all presentations
automatically in the specified order". But both do the
same results. To play the PPT from the CD in the other
computer also showed diferrent fonts even I selected to
embed the TrueType fonts.

Then, I birned the CD using the NERO CD Burner. Before
burning the Music files were placed right under the CD
folder, and the Slide Show files were placed in the
subfolder un the CD folder.
There was no trouble with PPT file(+ viewer)as I open the
Explorer yto activate the Slide Show, but still the music
doesn't play back at all from the CD player.

Now I am so confused.
Is ther any way to put the multimedia files in the CD for
the separate features?

Please help me with your kind and clever idea.
Thanks.

Don't put the files in separate folders when you burn to the CD.

For what you want, you would need to produce a mixed mode CD, which PowerPoint
doesn't do automatically. I recommend that you use Package for CD, but select
the Package to Folder option. Then, in Nero select Mixed Mode CD. Select all
of the files in the folder that PowerPoint produced and drag them to the data
portion of the setup. Put your music files in the track section.

I haven't tested this, but it *should* work if your standalone player can
recognize the music portion of a mixed mode CD.

Thank you so much for your time.
I already followed your instruction; Package for CD> Copy
to Folder>PowerPoint Viewer checked and selected "Play all
presentations automatically in the specified order"

Being the folder created by PowerPoint, all the filess
(Slide Show files and the music files;mp3)were in one
folder. audio files added first and Slide Show files
later. Then in Nero Burning Rom I selected Audio and Data
CD(that you mean 'Mixed Mode CD').
Then I followed the procedure instructed by Nero:'Add the
audio files you want to burn' and next 'Add data to your
disk' for the Slide Show related files under(out of) the
<CDPLUS> folder. And the 'Track-at-once' selected and
Burned.
Finally in NERO the size showed 460mb in CD, butafter
burning the CD property showed only 22.2mb and no sudio
files in the CD, and the music didn't play in the
standalone player.

I wonder I need to select 'Disk-at-once' and change the
procedure to add the files, that means the Slide Show
files added first and audio files later in PowerPoint.

Thank you again, guys.

As I said, I haven't tested it here, but the audio files have to be in *both*
sections of the CD. They have to be in the data section so that the PowerPoint
Viewer can find them, and they have to be in the audio section so that they can
be recognized and played by a capable standalone CD player.

Also, not all CD players can play mixed mode CD's created by Nero, so you'll
have to check your user manual for the player.

As far as I can see, Nero Express can't create a Mixed Mode CD. Use the full
application.

I'm confused. Are your music files MP3 files, or are they CD Audio Tracks?

I think if you tell us how you inserted the music into your PPT
presentation, we can probably tell you which they are.
back in the stand-alone player.(It does in the CD rom)

Or does this mean that you have both MP3 files and CD Audio Tracks?

See, if you have CD Audio Tracks, you have to burn an audio CD.

If you have data files (PPT files, MP3 files, etc.), you have to burn a data
CD.

If you have both CD Audio Tracks and data files, then you have to burn a
"mixed mode" CD.

When you said this:

subfolder un the CD folder.

I thought your CD was set up with MP3 files "loose" on the CD and your PPT
files in a folder. You would want to put your MP3 files and your PPT files
"loose" on the CD -- don't use folders. But that's just for the data side of
things.

Ooooooh, wait. Now I'm wondering if the "mixed mode" burning process is
turning the MP3 into audio CD tracks and ignoring them as data files on the
data side.

Yes. If you hand MP3's to Nero and choose to burn an audio CD, Nero will
convert them to audio tracks. If you want to play the CD on both 1) a computer
so that you can view the presentation and hear the sound and 2) a standalone CD
player so that you can play the music files in your car, you need to have Nero
burn the full Packaged folder to the data section of the CD and also provide the
MP3's to Nero a second time for burning to the audio section of the CD.

It sounds like maybe you didn't tell Nero to include all of the files in the
packaged folder in the data section - - you must include the music file here and
all of the other files. Then you can tell Nero to include any music files you
want in the audio section of the CD. If you want, this would include another
copy of the music file you are using in your presentation.

Since you said that you are using Package for CD I just assumed that this
presentation was created in PowerPoint 2003. If not, and if it was created in
PowerPoint 2000 or 97 then I can explain why you are not hearing the sound in
your presentation. Could you let us know which version of PowerPoint the
presentation was created in?

back in the stand-alone player.(It does in the CD rom)

In the Package for CD, I tried to select both "Don't
play the CD automatically" and "Play all presentations
automatically in the specified order". But both do
the
same results. To play the PPT from the CD in the
other
computer also showed diferrent fonts even I selected
to
embed the TrueType fonts.

Then, I birned the CD using the NERO CD Burner.
Before
burning the Music files were placed right under the
CD
folder, and the Slide Show files were placed in the
subfolder un the CD folder.
There was no trouble with PPT file(+ viewer)as I open
the Explorer to activate the Slide Show, but still the
music doesn't play back at all from the CD player.

Now I am so confused.
Is ther any way to put the multimedia files in the CD
for the separate features?

Please help me with your kind and clever idea.
Thanks.
