I was asked to set up Outlook so that multiple people can access the same
account simultaneously. Im on W2k3 server with terminal services running.
It was demonstrated to me on W2K that this indeed can work but when the
remote client accesses the terminal server and opens Outlook, and another
session attempts to access the same account it is rejected stating that the
file has been locked.

I uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled it thinking that, since TS was
installed after outlook, maybe Outlook was in the wrong mode. But that
didnt help the issue any.

Suggestions?

Do you have Exchange in your environment. Also do you need to share all
folders of the mailbox or just certain ones such as email and calendar.

If you are not using an Exchange then the Free/Busy information could be
published to a Website.

Also may want to check into Windows Sharepoint Services as a viable tool to
share information. I believe it has the ability to pull information from
Outlook and put it on your Sharepoint site, not sure if you need to be on
Exchange. This is a website so can access it from anywhere - with proper
access.

Actually if you have Exchange there are other ways that we can allow access
to multiple people e.g. shared mailbox (adding additional mailboxes or
setting up the mailbox as a Public Folder.

We are not using Exchange at this point. They want to be able to use TS,
and I doubt they would go for anything else.

We need to be able to access the email and thats it.

The idea is that 2 or more people could be responding to customer queries
without duplication. The W2K demonstration was exactly what they want. When
one email is deleted or responded to, both users see the change
immediately.

Thank you for responding to my previous post.
