Multiple wireless connections

There are multiple wireless connections in my area, is there any way to
select which one I wish to connect to?

Namely, I want to form an ad hoc connection with someone on a system with
Windows XP.

Thanks.
 
Normally this is a function handled by your wireless adapter's configuration
software.
