Multiple Removable Disk Icons

In Explorer 4 removable disk icons appear. They seem to be left over from
insertion and removal of flash disks. Has anyone seen this or know the fix?
Thanks in advance.
 
Card slots? You talking smart cards? No. I've seen this tyep of thing on
numerous computers. Artifacts of USB flash disks. How to prevent and remove?
