Multiple processes running in SP2

My system seems to generate loads of multiple processes as seen in the Task
Manager having the same name and apparently soaking up resources. My Outlook
occasionally stalls and I find 3 or 4 instances of outlook running and can
only get going again when all are ended. Any ideas especially on
"sychost.exe" which I have not dared to end!

I got four of those. It's normal.

Multiple copies of outlook might not be.

Both svchost.exe and outlook.exe are programs not processes. Processes
cause programs to execute.

Lots and lots of processes execute svchost.exe to perform various tasks.
Thus have several instances of svchost.exe is normal and no cause for alarm.

However, multiple instances of outlook.exe running does not seem normal and
needs investigation. Outlook really only does one thing which is connect to
the your isp.

When the first instance of Outlook crashes for whatever reason you have one
instance running. Then evertime you dub click it again you get another
instance, but not working. Run it 8 times and you will have 9 instances
runing. When it screws up end the first instance and start over. The svhoste
is normal. Dont know what crashes Outlook.
