Multiple Problems with XP

I am experiencing several relatively new problems in XP. I don't remember
exactly when they started - maybe 2 mos. ago - and can't connect them to any
specific installation or other event.

Here are some of the problems I am experiencing:
1. The search function doesn't work in Windows Explorer.
2. I can't open help in Windows Explorer.
3. I can't go to any secure (https) sites in Internet Explorer (but I can
go to them using Netscape).
4. I can't open many links in internet explorer. For instance, to use this
message board, I had to use Netscape - everything works fine through
Netscape, but when I click on links on the message board using IE, nothing
happens!

I have tried MANY things. I've been to Kellys Korner and tried the fix for
search. It didn't change anything. I've run spybot, lavasoft and Norton
Virus Scan, and nothing has changed. I've re-installed XP. I only have the
update disk, so I can't remove and then re-install the XP program.

So, if I could get some suggestions, I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks so
much!!

For #1 & 2 try:

* insert Windows XP CD (hopefully you can use the update disk)

* click Start > Run > type %systemroot%\inf , click OK

* inside folder INF, right-click pchealth.inf, click 'Install'

* if location is needed, navigate to C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

or D:\I386, click OK, repair will begin

Thanks, Drew. I installed Pchealth.inf. I had to go to 3 different folders
to find all the dll files, but I found them. After I installed it, nothing
happened. I wasn't sure what you meant by "click ok." There was nowhere to
click okay after the install. Was I supposed to do something else after I
finished installing it?

Also, I had a lot of problems after installation. For instance, I couldn't
shut down - I had to physically turn off the computer. Also, I couldn't get
on the internet thru netscape, IE or AOL. This problem was fixed after I
re-booted. I'm also unable to run a scan with Norton (this was happening
before I installed Pchealth.inf); when I click on items in Norton, there is
no response.

If you could explain where I am supposed to click on okay, perhaps some of
these problems would cease. Thanks again for your input. It's greatly
appreciated!!
