Hi,
Since the latest update my computer has been responding erractically.
Upon startup sometimes it will show some items and and not others. When I
attempted to sign into MSN, I kept receiving wrong password message and was
forced to reset my password just to get it to work. I'm constantly losing my
internet connection with dialup and if I use IM the computer will not go to
stanby or hibernation mode. Does anyone have any suggestions?

System restore?
Review your update history to check what updates were installed, if any
drivers were installed roll back the drivers?

If you think this is do to updates from windows update, go to the Windows
update site, do a manual scan, then click on the update history in the left
pane. Record what updates were installed. Then go to Add/Remove programs
and remove those updates. If any were a driver update rollback the driver
from Device Management. To get there right click My Computer | Manage |
Device Management. Double click the device in question, click on the driver
tab and choose rollback driver.

After rolling back the drivers and removing updates through add/remove
programs do a system restore to the restore point set before the updates
were installed.

If that fixes the issue, revisit windows update and reinstall the updates
manually one at a time testing after each one. Never get device driver
updates from the windows update site. Drivers should only be updated if
needed, if things are working then don't mess with it. When updating
drivers get them from the device manufacturer's web site, the computer OEM's
web site if it's a major OEM like Dell or HP, or from the mother board
manufacturer's web site if an on board device.
