I had a PC with Windows 2000 that was in a docking
station. It had (needed, actually) a static IP address
while docked, and used DHCP while undocked. It worked
beautifully. I'm now using Windows XP Professional, and
this is no longer possible, since only one network card
shows up, and any undocked changes also affect the
docking profile. The alternate IP configuration works
just fine for environments without DHCP, but not for me.
Any ideas on how to make this happen, short of setting up
a DHCP reservation?
