Multiple internet connections and LAN networking

Hi,

I have two separate internet connections in my student apartment and I
have the following network setup:

WAN
^
|
(ethernet)
|
Computer A
|
(wlan)
|
Linksys WRT54G-Eu Router ---> WAN
| |
xbox Computer B

Comp. B and C are both running XP pro SP2.

Currently all the computers are in the same workgroup and IP:s are
assigned by the routers DHCP (also the computers are behind NAT), Comp.
A has also public IP.

The problem is that Comp. B is hogging all the internet bandwidth and
for some reason Comp. A accesses the internet through the router. Since
the bandwidth is limited to 512/512 on both WAN lines I would like to
have the comp. A access internet through it's direct connection
(ethernet).

I have already tried blocking comp. A from accessing the internet in
the router setup, but for some reason the internet connection on comp.
A was unstable. Also using IPX/SPX protocol for filesharing is not an
option, because XBOX is not compatible.

What do you suggest is the best (easiest) solution to enable file and
printer sharing in the LAN and block the computer A to use the internet
through the router? And further: can this setup be achieved through
XP:s features or do I need an external software such as NetLimiter?

This is my first post here and hopefully I had everything right on this
one :)

Thanks in advance

If I understand your setup correctly Comp A has 2 nics. One connected
to the Internet and the other connect to the Router via wireless. Also
I'm assuming that both nics are DHCP clients. If this is correct I
would give the Wireless connection a static address and not include the
gateway. If you any additional internal networks they will have to
defined on computer A. What this will do is make the computer route
all 0.0.0.0 traffic (basically everything not defined on your wireless
connection out the internet link.

Good Luck

Yes that is correct. I assinged a static ip for Comp A from the router
and leaving the gateway empty on the wireless connection setup did the
trick for me.

Thaks for the reply!
