multiple instances of Outlook

Guest

Hello,

I am a new user to Outlook 2003. I notice that when I open the program in
the 'Outlook Today' and then click on the 'InBox' another instance of
Outlook opens up in the 'InBox' view. In other words, I'll have two
instances of outlook opened. Is this normal behaviour for this program? Is
there some setting that I should adjust to keep the program to only open
once?

Thanks,
Shane

Hello Shane,

Thanks for posting!

This is not an expected behavior. I recommend you use the steps below to
troubleshoot the issue:

1. Open Internet Explorer-> Click Tools-> Internet Options-> Advanced->
Unselect "Reuse Windows for launching shortcuts".

2. Test a new Outlook profile. This allows us to determine if the original
profile is corrupted. To do this:

1) Open Control Panel, double click Mail and you will see the "Mail" Window.

2) Click Add and follow the prompt to create this profile.

3) Also in the "Mail" Windows, select "Prompt for a profile to be used".

4) Close and reopen Outlook, and load into the new profile.

For more information, please refer to the following article:

287072 OL2002: How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook

You may also test Outlook 2003 on another computer to see if the behavior
is different.

Hope this helps. Have a good day!
