Multiple icons in taskbar

New user of 2000 asks: is there a way to revert to 1997
style of just having one icon in the taskbar instead of
single ones for all the excel files I have open? I work
with 40 or so and I hate having all those excel buttons on
my taskbar while working. Any help would be great!

Tools>Options>View. Uncheck "windows in taskbar".

I think this will solve your issue:

On the menu at the top of Excel, go to :

Tools > Options > "View" tab and uncheck the "Windows in
Taskbar" option.
