Multiple floppy disk controllers in device manager

Ceaso

I just upgraded to win2000 from 98.When Win2000 boots up I
go into My
Computer. From there I don't see the A: Drive. As soon as
I go into
Device Manager I see (2) conflicting (!)"Standard Floppy
Disk
Controller" entries. As soon as I "unistall" one of them
the floppy
shows up in My Computer. Then, after I reboot the same
problem
persists again; over & over, reboot after reboot. I've
tried the
following with no luck:
* Disconnecting the floppy, starting in Safe Mode and
uninstalling
both floppy controllers, then rebooting
* Logging on as administrator and following the above
procedure in
Safe and Normal modes.

I have also noticed that the OS detects the 2 floppy
controllers even
in Safe Mode and with the floppy drive disconnected

Updated to latest BIOS on the motherboard? Delete all the floppies (show
hidden also) and let it re-find it.
