Multiple entries in "To" selection list

When I open a new message and click on "To," the list comes up with multiple
entries for each of my contacts that have an alternate email address or
business fax number but I show them in my contact list only once. Is there a
way to hide all entries but the one with the primary email address?
 
As far as I know, no. The Outlook address book is designed to show all
addresses for all contacts.
