Multiple domains on laptop

Hunky Joe

Hello,

I have a user that travels, and needs to sign on to different domains at
each site. Since he is already set up for "Domain A", how can I set up his
laptop so he can sign into our "Domain B" while here, without losing his
Domain A profile? Can I just create a computer account for him here, join
his laptop to the domain, and then he will have both options available at
sign on?

Operating System: Windows XP Professional

Windows 2000 network.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You cannot have a machine be a member of two domains without 3rd party tools
OR you must setup a trust between the 2 domains. I have heard of one but
can't remember the name. Someone will chime in????!?!

A computer can belong to only one domain at a time. However you can create a local
account on the computer with the same logon name/password as a user account on any
domain and that user while logging onto that local account could access resources on
that domain assuming that their are no ipsec policies or such that require machine
domain membership to interfere with access. Keep in mind that local machine accounts
will not have any Group Policies applied to them. --- Steve

I've seen on other laptops at the sign-in screen where you can choose which
domain you are signing into. Is this done through 3rd part software or the
way you are talking about?

That would mean that the domain the machine belongs to has connectivity and
a trust between the domains. --- Steve
