Multiple copies of emails from my POP3 accnt

When I download my emails using Outlook 2002, I get from 2-
6 copies of each email.

I have several spam filters set up and I'm wondering if
the multiple copies are created by the filters. The
multiple copies seem to happen when the messages are
flagged as spam and sent to my spam folder or the deleted
items folder.

Perhaps the filters are catching multiple keywords in the
same message...therefore sending a copy to the designated
folder for each flagged keyword.

Anyone else having this problem......Solutions ???

I'm having a similar problem. I'd appreciate it if you
find a solution. My problem is limited to one sender, a
daily newsletter I get from Morningstar.com. I get dozens
of them at a time, and they're usually a month or two old.
Today I got more than 1,200 of them! There are no multiple
copies on the email server, so the problem does not appear
to lie with Morningstar or Verizon. Verizon says there's
something wrong with Outlook, but I am stumped.

I have the same problem, and I have posted it and here, and
microsoft.public.outlook.general for the last couple of months. None
of the suggestions i've gotten, including registry changes, worked for
me. I get up to a dozen copies of each message. If Outlook 2002 is
open, these messages sometime continue to "download" while I am trying
to delete them. I have a DSL connection to Mindspring (Earthlink),
and have an pop3 account. I am the only user of this account. There
are never duplicate or multiple copies on earthlink's server. Another
problem that started about the same time is Outlook can't remember my
ISP password. The connection dialog opens each time I open Outlook and
I must enter my PW. I wish some of the Outlook experts could get a
handle on this, as the problem has been posted often.

Try the upcoming SP-3 for Outlook 2002. It has a change that may address
this problem.

I have installed SP3 and the problem is still there.
Now what?

Same issue here with me. Can't leave messages on the
server or they get downloaded over and over. I installed
SP-3, but no change in the problem. I have only one
account set up to download to OL and no rules moving mail
between folders.

Interestingly, it seems that for Outlook Express (which I
know is very different from the Office Outlook family),
there is a file (Pop3uidl.dbx) where these downloads are
logged so that OL Express knows that the messages have
been downloaded from the server and are not downloaded
over and over. The solution for the problem in OL Express
is to delete that file (it is regenerated automatically,
but in doing so fixes itself). Does anyone know if there
is a corresponding log file for OL2002? I've searched my
computer for Pop3uidl.dbx and it doesn't exist, so the
download/synchronization log must be stored somewhere
else (if there even is one).

Any help is appreciated.
