I posted this in the mail forum and then found this group. Please excuse the
double posting.

hen i moved to vista windows mail from xp outlook express, I combined 3
identities address books. I made contact folders for each one. However,
when I try to select recipients the total contact list appears. Is there a
way to just bring up the contact folder I need when creating emails?

thanks,

I am not an expert. I just want to " weigh in ", if I may.
Did you give each contact folder a name ?
If yes, can you not click Contact button, type in the name of the
appropriate folder, open it, and select ?

yes but...

when my wife uses email, she typically writes her emails and then selects
the recipients by clicking on the "to" or "cc" buttons. when she does this,
the folders do not show up, just the complete contact list.

Because she clicked TO or CC which calls for the whole list. If she type the
name of the folder on the search box, then ONLY the folder appears.

You can create folders for the contacts, but Windows Mail will not show
them when you click on To:, CC: or BCC:

However, you can do it bassackwards if you have folders... open your
Contacts folder, open your sub-folder, select your recipient(s),
right-click, select Action - Send Email

and, you can create Groups, which are mail lists of selected contacts.
