Multiple Contact Directories

I have a new phone which will sync with my Outlook 2007 contacts but the
phone is limited to 600 names. Since I have over that number of contacts, I
would like to be ale to create a 2nd contact directory with contact that I
can access in Outlook but which will not be synced to me phone. Contact
folders seem to remain a part of the main contact directory and will sync and
export with all other folders. Is there a way to setup a 2nd contact
directory which I can sync and export independently from the main contact
directory??

Depends on your sync tool. Outlook doesn't take an active part in the sync
process, so all synching is controlled by the sync tool. Read the
documentation for it to see if it supports folders other than the default
Outlook folders.

The initial requirement is that you export your contacts to a CSV file so
that it can be imported into the website sync system. I have not found a way
to export from only a single contact folder since the Outlook export program
allows directory selection only. I repeat my question: Is there a way to
setup a 2nd contact directory which I can sync and export independently from
the main contact directory??

Of course. File>New>Folder will allow you create as many contact folders as
you wish (provided you tell Outlook they should contain Contact items) and
Outlook's Import and Export wizard will allow you to choose any folder you
have in your mail profile.

Just for the sake of clarity - there is no such thing as a "Contact
Directory" in Outlook vernacular - correct term is "Contact Folder" and you
can export from any contact folder that appears in the Outlook export folder
list (export of Public Folders etc are not supported). Outlook does not and
will not export "multiple" contact folders even if defined as a "sub-folder"
so the description "Contact folders seem to remain a part of the main
contact directory and will sync and export with all other folders." - does
not make sense unless you are referring to the "sync program" which includes
all sub-folders and is totally outside the control of Outlook since Outlook
is in no way involved with any sync process. In short - what your sync
program does and doesn't do is totally based on the options and capabilities
of the sync program - not Outlook.

If you are exporting multiple contact folders at one time via the "Outlook"
export process (and only the Outlook export process) - please define the
exact steps you are following otherwise no one can provide any kind of
assistance since this would be a very unusual occurance (one I've never
seen/heard of before based on your description).
