Multihomed Server Stops Browsing When...

Have a multihomed Server connected to two ISP's, one ISDN
and other cable modem. This server was fine for two
years, but a trojan virus took it down. When I enable the
second network adapter, the ISDN one, it soon drops
connection to the local users and domain. Soon meaning,
sometimes 10-30 seconds, other times as much as 8-hours.

I can recover only after a restart of the domain
controller and the SQL-server. Users seem to have to
restart too, but a few can use release and renew their
adapters and move on...

This system was flawless for 19-months, I think SP4
changed something in the browser service, there are some
master browser issues.

The system works perfect until I enable the second NIC
with the ISDN connection...

Any thoughts would REALLY be welcomed...

This may be a binding order issue. Enable the ISDN adapter. Right click My
Network Places and select Properties. Click Advanced/Advanced Settings.
Make sure your internal Lan adapter is at the top of the list.

Check the bindingorder and make sure the internal nic is on top, followed by
the external nic.
Internal nic should have a blank gateway.
DNS on both internal and external nic should point to your server-IP.
On the external nic only TCP/IP should be bound.

Are you using RRAS as well? In that case, make sure you do the regedits in
292822.
