Multifunction Advice Wanted

Hi,
Am after a good quality multifunction device with scanner/copier/printer.
Preferably a fax as well, but that's optional. And also prefer one that has
a card / transparency slide reader. Main requirement is good value/efficient
to run. I'd prefer one that I can get compatible cartridges for as well.
Trying to evaluate all of the best buys on the market, I came down to
choosing the Epson RX500/600, but have read mixed reviews - any advice or
alternative suggestions?

The transpacency scanning capabilities pretty much limit you to Epson, I
believe. I don't know of any HP or Canon multifunction machines that can do
that. However if you can do with out that function, Canon's MultiPASS MP730
has the nice benefit of a sheet feeder, plus the ThinkTank clear ink
cartridges.

I think any option you choose will have at least some availability of 3rd
party ink choices. Although once you decide what you're going to get, it
wouldn't hurt to search to find out for sure.
