multiboot 98SE and XP problem with NTLDR

The first thing I do is make all the partitions I need. Then I
installed Windows 98, hiding all but one primary partition.
Everything works.

I hide all the Partitions except the one I intend to use with XP.
Then I format it to NTFS. Everything is fine until I reboot (after the
formatting before the true installation). It is giving me the NTLDR
not found please reboot.

Searching the net there are two solutions. The first is the sys.com
solution. This won't work because until I have XP installed there is
no way to get this file into XP (Recovery console refused it too). I
also tried to manually place the NTDetect.com and NTDLR from my CD-ROM
to the C: from recovery console. The files transferred (and overwrote
the old ones) but the error continued.

Any idea what I need to do to fix this problem.

Are you setting the XP partition to Active? You'll see this error if you
don't. If you're using a 3rd party boot manager, make sure that the
settings for that boot item are correct.
