how do I prevent the read only excel file from locking up when multiple
users a probing the file by use of an access data base.

It seems that the wrong tools are being used for the job. Why is an
excel file being used this way?
 
Easy of maintaince, this will constantly be updated from and excel formatted
export form the tool I am developing.
 
It is Friday, and I am very tired what I meant to say it ' Ease of
maintenance, this file will be constantly updated from an excel formatted
export from the data base I am working on. The updates will come from the
users of the Data Base and only be updated by the admin of the Data Base.
