I just bought a new computer running Vista Home Prem. and was wondering if
its possible to have it so I can install a program and save the icon on my
desktop without having it go on every other user's desktop....

Some programs will do this corretly but most install it for
all users.

What I do in this situation is copy the shortcut on my
desktop then delete the original - this seems to remove it
for all users. Your copy will only be on your desktop.

Some programs give you the option to install just for yourself or for
all users. I usually just delete the desktop icons for other users in
their <username>/desktop folder.
