Multi-select problem in Windows Explorer BIG PROBLEM!!!!!!

Out of the blue, I suddenly can no longer select multiple files and can no
longer get my Windows Explorer setting to stick. I have tried the RESET
FOLDERS trick but that only worked the fist time. This bug is SOOOO annoying
that I am ready re switch back to XP.

MICROSOFT CAN YOU LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE? There are threads all over the
place where folks are running into this issue. We can't do our work this
way. Make this a HIGH PRIORITY!!! PLEASE HELP US!!!!!

Although the script did fix muti select in some (very few) of my folders
until i logged on again.
I still have no column headers or multi-select in most folders including the
root of c:\, my documents, or any network mapped drive. Also my folders are
reverting back to no multi-select as i type this.

Why is there no official patch for this yet?
Its been an issue since march 07. So to translate to Microsoft, for 4 months
now ive had to use DOS to copy or move multiple files around on my computer.
This is totally unacceptable. I might as well be running Windows for
workgroups.

Vista is trash at this point. I cannot see any value to it or any reason to
recommend it.
Device driver support gets a 1 out of 10
Legacy Application support gets a 1 out of 10
User interface gets a 0 out of 10
Gaming support gets a 0 out of 10 because it is non existant
Vista ultimate addons are completely worthless. Could we get a tweakUI ?
etc...

400 dollars for this piece of over hyped, prematurely released, buggy and
non functioning OS.
Im not an MS basher by any means but...

Heres a list of things that there is no support for.
Any 3rd part VPN clinet, SSL, IPsec, etc...
SLI, USB 2.0 support on my sager laptop.
Any MMC apps to manage servers from, including AD, Exchange, SQL etc.

This is a big deal to us system administrators out there who cannot manage
our servers from Vista.

Hi,

Same debilitating problem on my Toshiba laptop with Vista Home Premium with
the impossibility to select multiple files or folders. I do believe that in
my case the headers were still visible. I regained my sanity with the
following:

Folder Options > View tab > Reset all folders
Answer YES to the following pop up
Click OK for Folder Options to close

I then did what was advised in a discussion group which I read and proceeded
to close Windows Explorer and opened it again, and to my relief the ability
to select multiple files/ folders was restored. I didn't need to fidget with
something in the registry, thanks for that!!!

Please note that these operations were performed after I had Aero
neutralized, since I read that it was problematic. Maybe you'll be able to
breath again, I hope so.

A bug that annoying in something so central as Windows Explorer deserves to
be called a dragonfly or a bumblebee
