I've several operating systems to manage my computer. And I want to know how
can I determine which one would be the one to boot by defect.
Have I to change something in some file ?

Run this command:

notepad c:\boot.ini

You can now change the default operating system.

Get a boot manager. I use the one supplied with OS/2. I tested Acronix's
disk managment/recovery software, which includes a boot manager - very
nice looking, and very easy to use. Both of these boot whichever OS you
have selected as default, you can change OS and/or default and/or wait
time at boot time. They hide the other OS's boot/system partitions.
There are others, google on "boot manager bootmanager" to find them.

IMO boot managers are a better idea than Windows boot.ini because they
basically start with a micro-OS (DOS based, I believe) which means they
don't suffer from the flakiness the full-fledged OS may exhibit at boot.
I didn't buy Acronix because I decided I didn't need its other features.
If they offered the bootmanager separately, I would probably buy it.

Either use a text editor, such as NotePad, to manually edit
C:\Boot.ini to select a new default OS, or, from within Win2K,
right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and
Recovery, Settings > Default operating system.
