I have an Evesham machine and a Microsoft Multimedia keyboard. I had some
trouble with my dial-up connection and had to call the ISP helpdesk. I
believe that during the troubleshooting exercise with the ISP when I was
disabling this and that and changing settings something went wrong with the
buttons on the keyboad. I am now not able to use some of the buttons, the
mail and the my computer buttons as being some.
Anybody any ideas please.

It is more probable that the helpdesk had you disable the software for
the Multimedia keyboard. Look in the System Configuration Utility for
what they had you turn off and see if the keyboard software is
unchecked. If it is, then check it and see if that helps.

Start>Run>msconfig [enter]

This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab
and find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply
and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time
you do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick
the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".
