Hi ,

Why is that MULTI-AV scanning tool wanted change my network settings to
modify windows driver windr to change the host files<

None of the security tools I used so far demanded to change the host file?

How reliable is this software?

I don't know how you manage to get license from sophos since they do not
provide services for home user and also from others?

Please .

You should be asking me -- I am the author !

It is very reliable. :)

The Multi AV Scanning Tool does NOT change "network settings".
It does create a backup of the .\etc\hosts file (.\etc\hosts.bak) because the hosts file
is often used by malware for ms-direction of anti malware web sites. Modifications to the
hosts file is one of the most often techniques of self preservation by malware. If the
malware can redirect an anti malware web site to the diagnostic responder IP address then it
has a greater chance of survival.

The modification of the .\etc\hosts file is clearly stated in the included PDF Help File.
Please read it !

Hi Mr.Lipman,

All this notification that I am getting is from the Zonealarm
firewall.That's why.

I know you have a good reputation in helping people out .But The
notification from Zone alarm when I start Multi_AV has prompted this Q.

Are you given license to use on demand scan engines from various antivirus
companies?.......you really don't want to answer that right!!!

Anyways thanks for the reply and if possible let the other one be a more
explaining answer .

Well, if you're so uptight about it, don't use the damn thing and go on your
way.

The software is NOT being pirated and I resent the inference.
I do NOT distribute the scanners (anti virus Engines and signatures).
They are all freely, and publicly, available. I have just scripted the process of
downloading and using them.
They are not in my self extracting ZIP file not at the IK-CS.Com web site and I do not
obfuscate theya re the property of the respective anti vrus vendors. You can at anytime
collect the files and use them yourself. I just have the knowledge and scripting ability to
automate this for you and I do it as CareWare.

Your welcome. BTW, it is David. No formalities needed. :)

I think you mis-read both Tom and Fitz. Both have had knowledge of my utility since I first
created it and appreciate what it has done for those affected by malware.
