MSWorks v. 4.5

Is MS Works version 4.5 compatible with Windows XP? I
have Works 6.0 installed, which no longer has the original
Works word processor but uses Word 2002 instead. Thia
whole package represents a nice example of "improving" a
product until it is useless. Fortunately, I still have
the disc for Works 4.5 along with its product code from my
other computer. Can I delete the Works 6.0 suite and Word
2002, and install Works 4.5 on my computer running Windows
XP?

I don't think 4.5 will work on xp.
Why would you want to anyway? Word 2002 is far better and more powerful than
the works word processor.

Lots of these types of questions can be answered by visiting and using
Microsoft's knowedgebase web site at http://support.microsoft.com.

- Go to http://support.microsoft.com/.
- Advanced search.
- Pick "Works for Windows" product.
- Search on "4.5 windows xp".
- Voila! 2 articles found, one of which addresses using Works on
Windows XP.

Your unwillingness to learn a new and more potent word processor (Word)
does NOT equate to it being a useless product compared to the embedded
word processor in Works. YOU chose Word to be useless because YOU
choose to not use it. But then you never did qualify "useless" so it is
a vague and toothless complaint.

I used 4.5 during the Beta on XP Home. The only way to make it work was
to uninstall Works. Then install the XP Upgrade and then reinstall Works
4.5.
If XP is already installed, then you should be able to install Works
4.5 and it should run OK.
