I get an error MSWINSRV32.EXE has encountered a problem
and needs to close.

any idea what this is or where it came from.

This does not appear to be a Windows XP file. Have you run a complete virus
scan on the system?

yes I ran ad-awere and spybot and norton all update befor
I canned.
