msvcrt.dll problem

i recently added a new printer but i cannot get one of
its Utilities to run. every time i go to set it up i get
a "setup.exe is experiencing a problem" - i look at the
details of the problem and there seems to something wrong
with the msvcrt.dll file
i downloaded this file from some site and put it in my
Systems folder and it still doesn't work..
i tried to put it in systems 32 folder but it won't let
me over ride the file by the same name that is a newer
version.

Hi Joel,

Go to Start/Search and type in: msvcrt.dll
Rename them all except the one proper for your XP system version.

i am hoping for more of your help - please!
i really don't understand what you mean by this instruction
i put the dll file into the system AND system 32 folder but it still doesn't seem to work and i cannot get this printer EXE function to work and therefore cannot use this expensive printer at all for my work
any help would be much appreciated
