Hello.

I have noticed that lately, mstask could not start a job. There has been no
problem running this job ever since I added it to the task scheduler until
lately. The status says "Could not run".

The job is a daily job to shutdown the computer everyday at 6:00 AM. This
uses the "psshutdown.exe" from sysinternals to completely shutdown the
computer. YET when I run the shutdown command manually, it shuts down the
computer, no doubt about it.

What am I missing?

P.S. I install updates from Windows Update as it notifies me. Could my
problem be caused by an update recently?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

I re-entered my password using my local computer's profile. It took it but
still did not start my job. So I logged on to my local computer and sure
enough, my password expired. I changed it to non-expiring password.

BTW, I use this computer to logon to our work domain (using vpn), and I
rarely login to my local profile. Anyway my jobs will run again.

Thanks.

This is why administrators use a specially made
"Schedule" account with a non-expiring password.
