msncon.dll

Matt Cain

I have recently installed Office 2003. When trying to
start Outlook I get the following message

" unable to find your default email folders. An
unexpected error has occired. MAPI was unable to load the
information service msncon.dll. Be sure the service is
correctly installed".

I have tried to follow the guidence on page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;834459 about how to create a msncon.dll file, but when
trying to run "del %temp%\msncon.log" I get the
message "cannot find 'del'".

Any help would be gratefully received,

Matt

Hey Matt, I have the same error. I've been unable to find anything
though. Could you please let me know if you have actually found any
help regarding this issue? Thanks. My email is

First, the article you specified shows how to create a log file not the DLL.
The log file helps to troubleshoot. May still be necessary to do.

Next, Del stands for Delete. The DEL command is a remnant of DOS and
doesn't seem to like running directly from the RUN line. Instead, type CMD
in the run line to open a DOS window and run the DEL statement from there.

After you installed O2K3, did you reinstall the MSN connector? Try these
links for more info.

Hi I had this problem too, and ended up uninstalling and reinstalling outlook 2003 and then trying installing Outlook 2002 instead, nothing work. I seem to have solved the problem by going to start>control panel> mail > setup e-mail and directories. I then deleted the hotmail email account and restarted outlook. It informed I would have to move some contact but otherwise works, few!

I had just cancelled a Microsoft paid service with hotmail.
