Outlook 2003 tries to sign me into MSN every five minutes. I have an ISP and
use it lots. I've been through all the Tools menus and can't find anywhere
for this option. I joined MSN Messenger a few times under various emails just
to try to get this to stop and it makes no difference: Outlook keeps trying
to sign me in, whether I'm signed in or not. This only happens when Outlook
is running.

For some reason, the Sign In window stops me from receiving my inbound
emails. I hit send/receive quick after cancelling the sign in and it
downloads normally. If I wait a couple minutes, hit send/receive, I get the
sign in and error.

Hi

First

please verify which MSN is popping up, the normal one built into Windows
which is called Windows Messenger or the other one which is downloaded which
is called MSN Messenger.

If its MSN you have options in the actual MSN program, a few are "Login when
connected to the internet" <-- uncheck this. Also "Start with Windows" <--
uncheck this, they might be worded a little differently as I am responding
without looking, but you can figure them out I think, open MSN Messenger and
goto the Tools --> Options to see these settings under the General tab to the
left.

If its Windows Messenger, reboot, kill Windows Messenger before opening any
other programs, right click, Exit will do the trick. Goto c:/program files/
and you will see the Windows Messenger folder, it might be called Messenger,
not Windows Messenger, I deleted mine so cannot look. After deleting this,
reboot again and it will be fixed. When you run Windows updates and if Wndows
Messenger is an update option you might get Windows Messenger back. If you
try to delete and it gives an error, its cause the program is still running.
Another thing to do, just in case you want to keep Windows Messenger for a
later date is rename the Messenger (or Windows Messenger) folder to
Messenger_Old or something easy to locate.

Hope it helps get rid of your headaches. If it did, please click on the Yes
later, so I know not to wait for a reply :->
