msn messsenger 6.0

hi is thsi 6.0 out of the beta stage ? On the msn home
page it looks like it ......but i nm having a
problem.......when i open outlook express the old msn
messenger is opened and i cannot close it with out going
to start and clicking on it inthe programs list then
closing it .
what i mean is there is no messenger guy down by the
clock.
is the 6.0 a seperate program ? should you uninstall teh
old? it seems i am having confictions with the 2 of them

The MSN Messenger 6 is MSN's Messenger, the other
messenger is Windows Messenger 4.7. I have the same thing
happening, I even went into the add/remove programs and
then in Add/remove Components and uninstalled the Windows
messenger but with no luck they both still want to open.

You cannot remove Windows Messenger using Add/remove Programs, or Components. It can be done, if you change the attributes to Win Messenger in the sysoc.inf file to "unhidden". Or, you can use a script in the "Run" command to totally remove Windows Messenger.

windows messenger 4.6 and msn6 are two different programs
but they share stuff. Not sure you would want to
uninstall anything, just go ahead and make a shortcut to
your desktop for the msn6 and go from there good luck Dale
